 StarTech's USB to RS232 hub features 8 additional ports for industrial environments via a single USB port. It's a reliable and cost-effective way to expand on RS232 ports, while retaining full control from your computer.
A great benefit from this serial hub is that it enables daisy chaining. This means you can easily scale up by connecting a second hub with the original, should you need to expand on ports as you grow. All without investing in a higher cost serial adapter.
Because you have full control of your serial devices through a single computer, you can monitor a multitude of external appliances, such as: security systems, industrial automation, self-serve kiosks.
COM port retention also features in this adapter, allowing users to plug or unplug the single USB cable into different ports, or even after a reboot, and ensures the same settings and values are restored automatically to each specific RS-232 connection.
The 8 port RS-232 hub utilises an FTDI USB-to-serial chipset, which enables easy installation of the hub on different OS's. The chipset tells your computer what's connecting to it in order to load the correct driver. The computer can then use the serial adapter and manage data transactions correctly over the connected cable.
This serial hub is enclosed in a black all-metal chassis, designed to withstand the tough industrial environments. It is rack-mountable and fits into a standard 19-inch server storage rack.
