Fluorocarbon O-Rings are usually call FKM or VITON elastomer, this elastomer are very close to being the universal material to be used in the sealing industry of O-Ring.

This is because due to it wide ranges of chemical resistances and outstanding temperature combined with ozone, UV, weathering, and gasoline resistances. They have a temperature ranging from (-15`C to 199`C).  

In addition fluorocarbon elastomer, have great benefit to be used in vacuum sealing due to its low gas impermeability ratings.  

The down side of fluorocarbon elastomer is, they should avoid being use in low temperature applications or exposing to hot water, steam, polar solvents, low molecular weight esters and esters, glycol based brake fluids or hot hydrofluoric or chlorosulfonic acids are a factor.

The higher the value of the shore indicates that the material you are using is harder. Durometer is also generally stated and accepted with a “+/- 5” tolerance. Instead of rolling the O-ring down the shaft, slide it. If you spiral wind or roll an O-ring, it cannot be properly installed. It will also not function optimally and can even end up being damaged. If you have a lubricant, apply it on the O-ring and you will keep it rolling.
