Ppg SigmaZinc 9 / Dimetcote 9 Inorganic Zinc Primer (sspc Level 1) Grey
Two-component moisture-curing zinc (ethyl) silicate primer with high zinc content for structural steel.
- Type/Finish: Two-component zinc ethyl silicate primer; grey, flat finish
- Former Names: SigmaZinc 170, Ameron Sigmazinc 9
- Function / Protection:
- Provides galvanic corrosion protection to steel (sub-film corrosion prevention)
- Excellent abrasion and impact resistance
- Serves as system primer in coatings with unsaponifiable binders
- Temperature Resistance:
- Substrate: –90°C to 400°C under normal exposure
- Topcoated: up to 540°C (standard topcoat), up to 650°C with PPG HI-TEMP 1027
- Avoid exposure to liquids pH <5.5 or >9
Application:
- Substrate temperature: –18°C to 55°C during application and curing (above dew point, dry, ice-free)
- Relative humidity during curing: ≥50%
- Coverage: Theoretical 8.4 m²/L @ 75 µm DFT
- Method: Brush, roller, or spray

- Internal & external steel in industrial and construction environments
- Provides anti-corrosion, impact, and abrasion protection
